I love days like today. Dark, dove-grey skies, misty air surrounding the tree tops from the hot summer air of yesterday rising into the clouds. Rain drops glittering against the glass windows and that beautiful, earthy smell of the freshly cleansed earth in the air. And of course, that ecstatic feeling you get when you realise Christmas is coming!
The time when all your old friends come out to celebrate with an old Christmas cheer and warmth, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and John Lennon if you dare to call him old. Then of course Louis Armstrong, although to be honest with you, I haven’t heard him sing Christmas songs (except for ‘Baby it’s cold outside’ with Velma Middleton, of course) but that could just be my millennial ignorance. Of course, in Australia, we don’t have a white Christmas. Where I’m from we have 28 + degree days and stunning, extraordinary storms and torrential rain in the afternoon followed by warm honey-sticky nights with mosquitoes everywhere and sand flies if you’re at the beach. I love it! A wild summer spirit fills the air and everyone becomes ignorant to time as the warmth from the sun lingers in the air all through the night.
Anyway, I cannot wait to go home to the summer spirit and start planning ideas and devotions to share with you all here on my blog. As a dream for this blog, I have it in my heart for it to become a community based place for people to share their hearts, encouragements for others and simply to share and enjoy the little things in life…as well as the big. To celebrate with each other in the highs and the lows and share the love of Christ and make everyone’s day abundantly more joyful.
“ Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” – Colossians 3:12-17 NKJV
Plans for posts for Christmas & New years
- I have a beauty post coming up that I am so so so excited to show you!
- My favourite Christmas donuts!
- What will I be cooking for Christmas lunch this year?
- I will be posting mainly digital images for a while until I get more film developed. However, I will state which form of medium the images are that I post. There will be a mix of digital, IPhone shots and of course my favourite, film.
- Preview of the painting I have been working on this year that is very personal to my growth since moving to Melbourne and the journey of becoming a woman.
- Words the Lord desires to share with us, love, righteousness and Fatherly direction.
“Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” – Matthew 22:37 NKJV
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33 NKJV
“Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” – Isaiah 12:3 NKJV
This post is to share with you what’s coming up because it is a new blog and I think it’s fair to know what exactly it is you’re getting into. To be honest with you, I have very poor grammar skills and I am not good at sticking with schedules. This is why I wish for this blog to be a go-with-the-flow kind of blog. Anyway, I hope you come along and enjoy the ride. I would love to see you stay!
Bless you all.
