Good morning All!
I am so excited (and nervous) to be heading back to the big city today, MELBOURNE!
Something I have learnt a lot in the past couple of years, living out of home, is that letting go of past seasons is extremely important to embrace the new seasons.
Expectations in a new season that God gives us is important, but whether it is OUR own expectations rather than God’s is another matter.
“I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope.”
– Psalms 130:5
Not letting go of our expectations from a season past, into a new season is only going to rob us of the blessings, contentment and joy in the new season. It is hard at first to surrender our own expectations and live listening solely on His word but as soon as He starts being the centre of everything you do and all decisions you make, something amazing happens – you crave Him. You crave Him more than the season you are in and the seasons coming!
Of course, that doesn’t mean you won’t have hopes for the future, husbands, wives, fulfilling your call, getting that job, but whatever God wants for you becomes more important. CHOOSE GOD NOT THE GIFT! Because without God there is no fulfilment or satisfaction in the gift!
“But the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.””
He said, “Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.””
– Genesis 22:11-12
God asked Abraham to sacrifice his gift from God – his son. And because Abraham obeyed God in preparing to do so, he was able to keep his gift. God does not break His promises but He does want us to choose Him over them, ““Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;”
– Deuteronomy 7:9
God is the promise giver and a rewarder. He wants to fulfil His promises and gifts for you and to you, in a way that we may reap them to His fullness. The fullness He intends us to live in.
“may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Bless you All!
