“Has a nation changed its gods,
Which are not gods?
But My people have changed their Glory
For what does not profit.
12 Be astonished, O heavens, at this,
And be horribly afraid;
Be very desolate,” says the Lord.
13 “For My people have committed two evils:
They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters,
And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.” – Jeremiah 2:11-13
Our old ways of living aren’t going to cut it anymore. Please know that any word from the LORD I put up here is a personal conviction as well as a corporate one. Take it to the LORD and deal with it before Him in the secret place. We are carrying things in broken vessels that we were never meant to create. Maybe how we handle emotions, maybe it’s old coping mechanisms and constantly dwelling in survival mode. Maybe it’s an addiction or sexual sin. God is the only living water who can fill the cisterns He has called for us to carry. Broken cisterns can’t carry living water because you will drip and lose all the anointing before you get to the place or person you are called to pour it onto. This will only lead to you trying to give out of your own strength rather than from His. Smash the old cisterns, smash the idols. Repent and worship Him to fill you up again. Eat the daily bread (read the Word) and dance with Him again.
Doesn’t matter how old you are, broken cisterns aren’t for God’s children, they can’t carry the fullness of what He has for us.
